Report volunteering at Koh Kong orphanage from 10 to 26 September 2009.
By Elodie, a Jeremie and Jeremie bis.
A year after our project (July 2008, Association EVADEH), we returned to Koh Kong this time by our own means. The reunion with the children were fantastic and we have discovered new children very endearing.
We first noticed that things had changed and this in the right direction:
• The new nanny,
Thary, handles very well for children and they are more fulfilled and happy! In particular, we found the greatest who were more removed last year.
• We also note the progress of children in English so we can communicate more easily.
• The new organization of the rooms (by age) and meals are also new spots. Each child has its own storage space.
• The orphanage is more "alive" and drawings on the walls reflect the activity of the orphanage.
• The hard work of the White Elephant association and its volunteers has paid off and we sincerely wish to congratulate these changes.
However, it is true that the kitchen would need a little new.
During our stay, we organized several activities: exit to the sea and the mangrove forest, treasure hunt, party ... and we have offered gifts to various moments of our stay (and plush toys for smaller clothes to the greatest who were delighted to go "shopping" with us to walk).
Then the time came to return soon. We organized a little party for our departure. On the menu: Chicken Carry, french bread, fruit and Coca!
Young and old have regalia, and we ended the evening in the usual good mood (music, dance, pictures ...).

Congratulations to the White Elephant, Alina and all volunteers for their work!
